# Fix with Claude

> Hand an alert or investigation to Claude Code on your own machine and see the result come back.

export const Plan = ({tier}) => <Badge color="blue">{tier} plan</Badge>;

Some problems need access SRE Agent does not have, such as a shell on your cluster or your cloud credentials. **Fix with Claude** turns an alert or investigation into a fix brief and hands it to the Claude Code session running on your machine. That session works under your own credentials and reports the outcome back.

<Plan tier="Pro" />

SRE Agent grants no new access here. The handoff covers this one problem only, and it expires. Every command runs in your session under your own permissions, and your tool's own approval prompts still gate anything that changes state.

## Hand off a problem

<Steps>
  <Step title="Open the problem">
    Open an alert, an investigation, an ops board card, or a blocker in the Control Tower. The **Fix
    with Claude** button also appears on the matching Slack messages.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Click Fix with Claude">
    In the app, a **Fix with Claude** window opens with a **Command** box. In Slack, you get a
    private reply with the same command, and a line appears in the thread.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Copy the command">
    Click **Copy**, then run it in a terminal on the machine that holds the credentials for the
    affected system.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Let the session work">
    Your Claude Code session fetches the brief, runs the read-only checks first, and proposes any
    step that changes something before running it. Leave the window open: its status updates when
    the session picks the brief up and again when it reports.
  </Step>
</Steps>

## The command

The command depends on your plan.

| Plan | What the command uses |
| - | - |
| Business and above | `claude "/mcp__sre-agent__fix <handoff id>"`, which needs the SRE Agent MCP server connected to Claude Code. |
| Pro | A `curl` command that fetches the brief using the handoff. The window names the Business plan for the slash command. |

The first time your organization uses the button, the window adds a **First time?** note explaining the MCP connection. The handoff expires 24 hours after you click.

## The four outcomes

When the session finishes, it reports exactly one of these. The badge next to the button shows the result.

| Outcome | Badge | Meaning |
| - | - | - |
| Validated fixed | **Fixed** | You changed something and proved the condition cleared. |
| Validated not fixed | **Not fixed** | You changed something and it did not clear. |
| Not validated | **Reported, not validated** | The session could not prove either way, and says so instead of guessing. |
| False positive | **False positive** | The subject was not a real problem. |

Before the report, the badge reads **Handoff issued** and then **Local session working**. The report includes a summary, the actions taken and the evidence gathered. Slack threads show each step, so the rest of the channel sees the loop close.

## Who can use it

Members and above see the button. Viewers see the status badge but not the button. On the Free plan the button is shown locked and links to the **Subscription** page.

<Note>
  The text the session reports back is checked and cleaned when it arrives, because it comes from a
  machine SRE Agent does not control.
</Note>

<Tip>
  Use [fix requests](/guides/fix/fix-requests) when you want a pull request from SRE Agent's own
  agent instead. Fix with Claude is for work that needs your machine's access.
